Heronfield students are honored at a Model United Nations Event.
Congratulations to Abigail & Jack!
Congratulations are in order for two of our eighth grade scholars as Abigail Sears and Jack Diamonti were both recognized with prestigious awards at a virtual Model United Nations event on Saturday, November 21.
Jack represented Kuwait in the UN Development Program (UNDP) portion of the event, and he was saluted as the ‘Best Public Speaker’ with an additional laudation noting that he gave ‘a well-thought out speech that demonstrated significant understanding of the topic and helped to further debate.’
Participating in the UNESCO portion that considers economic, cultural and social policy, Abigail spoke on behalf of China and was judged to have written the ‘Best Position Paper.’ Abigail received further praise that underscored her ‘great research skills’ and ‘her strong understanding of the topic in relation to her country and the international community.’
Both students earned invitations to represent Heronfield at another Model UN event on December 5 – a no-prep, crisis-style event focusing on International Space Exploration and Militarization. Well done, Abigail and Jack, and huge thanks to Mr. Clark for his leadership of our Model UN program!
